The Dark Side of Kulusuk

Here are some evidence of how civilization can spoil nature. Very sad to see some this happening in such a beautiful place.

Construction on edge of the bay. Not sure what those large tanks are for.
Kulusuk

Lots of debris at the bank of the bay.
Debris

Even when we walked some distance away from houses or roads, we still some debris in various locations

On the road up to a mountain top, we saw some leftover equipment. The Danish guy says it is probably left behind by the US military, as they had a radar station on top of this mountain during the Cold War.
Debris

Empty containers in the village, probably used to fill gasoline.
Energy source or pollution?

Oil barrels from Texaco.

The only other thing I didn't like about Kulusuk is the swarming mosquitos. One person in our tour claimed that there were so many that she caught a mosquito with her eyelids when she blinked.
