We headed to downtown Pretoria.
Hair Salon
Internet Cafe
Bar
Dancing on the street
Traffic jam!
Suddenly, a group of students come rushing from a side street, escaping from something.
Apparently, the students were part of protests for school fee increase. The back of his T-shirt says "For Radical Transformation of Institutions of Higher Education".
Things got crazier as we went down the street. This group of protesters was blocking the intersection, and harassed whoever drove by.
Finally, the riot police arrive.
But the number of protesters still overwhelmed the riot police.
And you could see the remains of protests on the street.
Meanwhile, most people were still going about their business in the busy streets.
While police try to control the damage.
Smoke was still rising from other streets, until our bus took us to safety.
Can't be any safer than this!
We arrived at Union buildings with a view of sunset over Pretoria.
The calm sunset was interrupted by police helicopter
The office of the President of South Africa is in these buildings
Helicopter lands on Union building hill.
And drops off these police to take pictures with tourists!

The sun already set when we were trying to catch a glimpse of Jacaranda trees in full bloom. Only heavy post-processing of these photos brought these trees to light.
This is closer to what it looked like.
